Here at RuptureXIBIT, we offer artists an affordable space in which to expand and define their practice during a four-week intensive mentoring residency concluding with an open studio event. 🎨 This is an opportunity to push your practice, develop experimental and unresolved work and talk about it across disciplines and communities devoid of hierarchy. Experimental means experimental to you: how you ask more of your practice. We accept proposals based on the artist’s desire to develop through experimenting. Meet Anita Dangel: Anita joins us for a one-month intensive mentoring residency 27th January - 24th February 2025 at RuptureXIBIT, London with artists Kate Howe and Sally Minns. Anita is a British-Hungarian multidisciplinary artist who divides her time between London, Budapest, and a serene village by the Danube—a place that fuels much of her recent artistic inspiration. 🌊 Anita holds a Diploma in Portraiture from The Heatherley School of Fine Art (2016–2019) and an MA in Fashion & Textile Design from MOME, Budapest. She's also a graduate of KLC, London, where she earned the RIBA Prize for Spatial Design. 🏆 Recent solo exhibitions include Abraços Pintados (Painted Hugs) in Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2023). Currently, her practice is preoccupied with nature, especially the swans of the Danube. In an insightful and engaging presentation, Granova took her audience through a journey of her past, present and future as an artist. Granova let us into her world of close-looking and took us step by step through her methods as a painter. 🌟 New residency in the Front Gallery 🌟 RuptureXIBIT alum, Katya Granova, has begun her residency in the Front Gallery, entitled ‘A Song of Unrequited Love for Britain’. In week one, she’s already made strides to working out her plans for there residency. Examining what she’s called her unrequited love, she hope to explore her personal relationship to Britain and British culture. Continuing in her practice of working with ambiguous and mundane photographs from the distant past, sourced from flea markets in various countries and create works that capture her painterly response to their black-and-white contents, with a special emphasis on colour choice. The doors are open to the public for a number of events throughout November. First up, Granova will be hosting an artist talk and workshop, in conversation with RutpureXIBIT’s Kate Howe and Sally Minns. Turps Studio Programme painter Alice Barker and MASS Sculpture Programme sculptor Vivien Delta will be completing their summer residency at RuptureXIBIT next week. Throughout August and September, the artists have considered themes of time, attention, ritual and the change of seasons, culminating in a joint exhibition ‘Clip Clop Clown’ in the Front Gallery, which will be open to the public from 23rd to 29th September. There will be an artist workshop ‘Units of Time’ on Wednesday 25th September, inspired by the poem “Averno” by Louise Gluck. The workshop will ask participants to consider their own unit of time, thinking about what matters to them the most.
